With tigher economic conditions, families are finding it harder to afford their annual holiday. As finances become tight, the vacation is one of the 1st luxuries being sacrificed. Many hotels and vacation facilities are seeing a decline in visitors and some are struggling to continue doing business.

Holidaymakers are considering camping and self catering options and some are even staying at home until finances stablise.

With some small companies closing there are many struggling to find work, especially in sectors such as construction where the instability is really being felt.

So what alternatives are people considering when it comes to holiday time? One sector which seems to be riding out the storm is the smaller hotel. The bed and breakfast trends at the moment are showing that these establishments of 8 or less rooms are coping well.
