A recent 4 star award to the Highbury guest house not far from Leicester, reflects the scale of refurbishment that owners Cosmo and Irene have carried out on their Leicester bed and breakfast

“When we took over the Highbury bed and breakfast near Leicester 3 years ago”, says Cosmo, “the hotel was not graded at all. We are totally committed to continually upgrading our facilities and our quality”.

All bedrooms have been redecorated with new bed covers and freshened wall coverings. Almost every room now has its own flat screen tv and toilet facilities have been greatly enhanced throughout out the guesthouse. If you have not been for a while you will immediately notice the difference. With its close proximity to both Nottingham and Leicester the Highbury offers a superb central point, whether you are on business or holiday.

The Highbury Guest House Loughborough north of Leicester, is situated on the A6 Leicester Road, just south of Loughborough Town Centre, it offers a conveniently fast route to Leicester or Nottingham’ East Midland Airport, both just 11 miles away.

A with most business websites, Bed and Breakfasts should be attractive to look.To help you be more objective here are some ideas:

* Use a muted colour scheme, especially as one of your aims is to present your b&b at its best. Several bed and breakfasts have the most unattractive colours – usually green – which people would find off putting. Hire a professional designer to put together your cololur scheme.

* Your logo is the first thing noticed, and first impressions count. A designer will produce a site that reflects you and your b&b, and if you already have a logo he will use it . A recognisable identity for your Bed and Breakfast is a great way to make your mark.

* Keep your colours consistent throughout your Leicester bed and breakfast – a mixture of different styles from room to room, is a sign of amateurism.

* Avoid irritations and distractions to your guests. Although some very prominent accomodation use attention grabbing devices, they are best left out as the attention they might gain can be more than offset by the annoyance factor.

Your first choice if visiting the UK for a few days may not be bed and breakfast but they are great value. Self catering is an option but you have to think about food, cooking and cleaning and if you take a look at prices, it is often much more economic to stay in a bed and breakfast. Hotels are very high price in Leicester, Nottingham and other City Centres . Even if the facilities are superior, do you really need them all?

If you can say “not really” then tnik about looking at a Bed and Breakfast instead. Ok, so there are no keep fit rooms, or swimming pools, many of the better properties will provide similar facilities to a city centre hotel, and very often to a higher standard. Most British Bed and Breakfasts offer good accommodation, your own room key so you can come and go when you please and a traditonal 3 course english breakfast. Many provide an evening meal if you arrange it in advance.

Bed and Breakfasts exist in every town throughout the UK. They range in size from a single room to a house with several rooms. Anything over 6 to 8 rooms is classed as a Guest House but the functionality for example, of a Leicester Bed and Breakfast, is almost identical. They are often family businesses where the owner lives on the premises and has more interest in providing you with a good comfortable stay. So you get the personal touch not always obvious in larger corporate hotels.
